I have to apply for a loan to help pay for my school expenses, but I am also unemployed, so I need a little extra cash. I was wondering if I would be given the “student loan” or would it go directly to the college?
Thanks!!!

The student loans go directly to the college. If there are leftover funds after they subtract what you owe, and you attend a 2-year college (community, technical, junior) the college sends the money back to the government to be subtracted from your total. If you attend a 4-year college or university, the college sends you a check for any leftover money. It’s in your best interest to send as much of that as possible back to the government, or you’ll be paying it back with interest (along with the total amount the college took) after you graduate.
Its given to the college, but then any extra is given to the student. I got a loan that went to the school but since i didnt get the meal plan, I got 1300 back into my checking account.
It is paid to the college, but they will cut you a check for anything over the cost of tuition. So if your tuition is $10000 and you get a loan for $20000 the school will mail you a check for $10000.
its paid to the school.however whats left over is given to you
