Is Anyone Else Getting Really Sick Of Dlc’s?

By Money F Posted in: Money

I m not talking about the good ones that just add things to the games if you choose too like the fallout 3 DLC, but the ones that they purposely leave out of the game that are integral to plot lines/characters etc. It’s so frustrating to spend upwards of 60 dollars on a game only to realise you are only getting a portion of it.
I wouldn’t care so much if it wasn’t so obviously a giant rip off, why should you have to purchase characters/maps/campaigns/skins on top of a $60+ game? These are things that used to just come with the game, I can understand certain DLC’s but it seems they are just making **** to scam us out of money. Games should come with a warning “you are only getting a quarter of the game, everything else costs more.”

Have you only just realised it now? I’ve been complaining on the gaming forums i visit probably since the first DLC has been introduced. Its a bloody rip off but there’s always some one that will say “its only cosmetic, it doesn’t affect the game, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it”. The fact that nearly every game has DLC these days is that its profitable, there ARE stupid people out there buying it.
I normally buy the games im preally excited for full price on day one. Now, I just wait for complete editions which includes all DLCs plus main game cheaper than the original price.
I think DLCs might be to blame for for the 37% profit drop in the gaming industry. It was on the news. I know quite a few people who are like me, wait until complete editions come out before buying.
Games like Final Fantasy XIII-2, requiring you to buy DLC to find out true endings for the game, they can **** the right off. I bought Gran turismo 5 full price day one for £40, now they have £20 worth of DLC consisting of maybe around 20 cars, 15 i wont use and a few tracks. That can **** off too.
    Edit:
“Games should come with a warning “you are only getting a quarter of the game, everything else costs more.”"
Yeah, I agree, thats why im forced to wait and see how the game turns out before buying them. Its their loss imo. I used to buy the games day one, now i wait for price drops, get preowned or complete editions.

On-disc DLC makes me mad and companies that release unfinished games like what Capcom did with Marvel vs Capcom 3 is nothing but a money grab. I refuse to buy any Capcom products now.

    i agree

I completely agree. The paying for the game then paying another fee to play it online is pissing me of as well

I miss the good old days when you didn’t have to preorder a game or buy it on a specific console to get “exclusive content” or “bonus this and that”, all the stuff was already in the disc and if the developers wanted to add more, they lauched expansion packs that cost half the usual and added a lot more things. Expample: Diablo 2 for PC

It is just wrong. Only Bethesda can be counted on to add all dlc on the goty or ultimate releases.
The other companies are unfair to players with no means to download additional material. It would be a good idea for video game stores to offer that service to get dlc instore. Take your system. Download via purchace or coupon code.
Its bad enough sony and microsoft are considering technology that will make new games you buy, once broken In by your console, will not work on any other. That means no trade ins in the future if they go ahead with this.
A disaster for the next gen consoles.
just imagine the buglitches in the future.
    End rant.
