What’s Your Response To The Position Held By Some Libertarians And Tea Party Members That We Shouldn’t Have A?

public education system and if that means that people who work at places like Wal-Mart making $8 an hour working a cash register won’t be able to send their children to school at all then that’s what the free market wants and we should just accept it.

  1. Paul Grasse 2.0 Says

that logic is not their strong suit

  2. Jimbo Says

A public education system means currently that the educational system is run from Washington. As a result, there has been created a bureaucracy from there down to the city and state level that uses almost half of the educational funding returned to the states from Washington. If the Dept. of Education were eliminated and each state could keep it’s educational taxes and use it as they see fit, there would be better and more efficient use of the money instead of being black mailed by the federal government. Your statement is so far off base that it’s obvious you have a bias toward the Washington based Dept. of Education. By the way, there is no right under the Constitution for education. THAT is the responsibility of the parent and child, not the federal, state, or local governments.

  3. Mark F Says

We don’t need a FEDERAL education system. What does the DOE do? They take a lot of money from the states, then give some of it back with strings attached. And to what purpose? Has education improved since the founding of the DOE? Not one bit. So why not get rid of it and let the states keep their money and educate their kids as they see fit, not as some beaurocrat in D.C. sees fit. That way we have 50 different experiments in education going on and can see what really works, not just one rigid national standard like the wretched No Child Left Behind which has turned our kids from being thinkers into mindless test-takers.

    I’m a Libertarian and I think it’s rather silly.
But, then, your intention is to focus on the fringe of a political group that doesn’t agree with you, as that allows you to justify your irrational hatred of * all * of them.
I’ll be happy to paint all Democrats as a bongo-playing hippie, crapping in the bushes of a local park.

  5. Jaime Says

No, not even close. Democrats have always put education as a priority. It would be the cons which are always for making money no matter what. It is like health care they want it to be a private business. We would be even further behind in education if we were to go that route.

  6. Bad Wolf Says

The same as my response to the position held by some Democrats/Liberals that children should be taken from their parents at birth and placed into State run schools until adulthood.
